The War Against The Darkness
So much and so many were lost.

After the Darkness began to come over Toronto, people fled, terrified and heedless. The people in this photo were aiming to use the Don Valley Parkway to flee north, or down to the lake where good folks from New York state were trying to boat-lift them out like Dunkirk. Hundreds died trying to flee, and more died when the Darkness caught up with them.
I barely made it out myself, and I still have nightmares about the day I took this picture.
