A Brief History of Tuesday
I had lotsa fun at Reid and Luisa’s the other night. It was the first time I’d seen the whole family since either Andy and Christine’s barbecue or the water-gun party, I forget which was last, so it was good.
Luisa had all her pictures from Italy (313 or so) online, scanned by Reid and I got a story about every one. Not boring. The people, the countryside, the history, the culture was a-frickin’-mazing.
Dinner was great too. Luisa’s mum’s homemade lasagne with homemade pasta - and I’m assuming homemade sauce which I forgot to ask, but I learned that Nancy makes it in a big kettle in the back yard. Mmmm. Kettle sauce.
Reid barbecued some lamb which I haven’t had in a long time, and there were two different mint sauces, one Reid’s, the other Luisa’s. Mmmm. Duelling sauces.
Lotsa fun, learned stuff, spent time with my friends.
Mmmm. Life.

I totally forgot to remember the gifts Luisa brought me from Italy. I usually ask for rocks or pebbles from wherever someone is going. Luisa brought me back a fist sized chunk of rock with a fluted side like a scaled down version of a temple column, but I think it’s actually a fossil because it’s limestone with actual fossils in it and the surface fluting is actually on a consistent layer that looks like shell! Mysterious and spooky! Must research!
The second was a cool book on ancient Rome, based on that huge model of the city they have in the modern city somewhere. There are maps and photos and fold-outs and pictures and all sorts of cool stuff!

Yup, of course, home made sauce from home grown tomatoes.
So, you think it IS a fossil? I’ll take your word for it! It came from mountain to the right of Civita (I don’t know what direction that would be, but Tonino, who gave it to me, pointed in that direction). He had seen me trying to look for a half decent rock from the ruins of Civita, and told me to not bother — he would give me one.
