I Am Not Anti- American

Monday, October 24th, 2005

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing.

He concludes by saying: “Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed.”

“OH NO!” the President exclaims. “That’s terrible!”

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, “How many is a brazillion?”

God’s honest, my friends. God’s honest.

PS, thanks to Anneli for the true story.

Things I Forgot To Remember

(It’s one of Proust’s, I think, your majesty…)

1) A few weeks ago at her Word on the Street presentation, Ruth Ohi showed how she sometimes uses ‘pig noses’ to create faces that express emotions. It was neat. Ask her about it.

b> I’ve seen the first two episodes of ‘My Name is Earl’ three times now on TV and they’re still milk-through-the-noseholes funny, and I wasn’t even drinking any milk!

iii. The other weekend TVO showed ‘Waiting for Guffman’ and ‘This is Spinal Tap’ back to back. Jeezes, those are good movies.

four=I’m trying to learn Linux. I should have started sooner. I’ll be dead before I get it.

cinque…Another excellent Corner Gas! That Wanda!

So far that is all.

A Brief History of Tuesday

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

I had lotsa fun at Reid and Luisa’s the other night. It was the first time I’d seen the whole family since either Andy and Christine’s barbecue or the water-gun party, I forget which was last, so it was good.

Luisa had all her pictures from Italy (313 or so) online, scanned by Reid and I got a story about every one. Not boring. The people, the countryside, the history, the culture was a-frickin’-mazing.

Dinner was great too. Luisa’s mum’s homemade lasagne with homemade pasta - and I’m assuming homemade sauce which I forgot to ask, but I learned that Nancy makes it in a big kettle in the back yard. Mmmm. Kettle sauce.

Reid barbecued some lamb which I haven’t had in a long time, and there were two different mint sauces, one Reid’s, the other Luisa’s. Mmmm. Duelling sauces.

Lotsa fun, learned stuff, spent time with my friends.

Mmmm. Life.

Serenity Wow!

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

I decided to splurge and treat myself to Serenity at the Rainbow Market Square for $4.25 yesterday.

Can’t say anything about it, except that it was great, a Joss Whedon story (and what a storyteller he is), and that he did a very bad thing. Twice.

He and Russell Davies should get together, I swear to God.

And I still haven’t seen all the episodes of Firefly. And I still don’t know why the TV show was named after the class of the spaceship that Serenity was, and the movie was named after the ship herself.

I should look it up or something.
