Wish Me Luck. And Knowledge. And Wisdom.
Well, I write my next certification exam on Friday afternoon. This one is for MCP for Windows 2000.
The book is heavy, and we didn’t have enough time to really study it, sometimes doing two chapters in one day. Each chapter involved viewing a PowerPoint slideshow and a Q&A with the instructor.
Like the two books we covered for A+ (Hardware and OS), there were online chapter tests (intranet), which counted towards our course mark, plus hands-on exercises from the book, and any number of on-line (internet) sample exam questions, plus locally installed sample exam questions from four or five different sources.
They’re hard.
This is interesting, and important, no question, but why, oh why, can’t it be easy?!
Nah, I’m kidding. The hard part is good, and I like the studying.
I could only wish for more simulations (faked stuff so as to not adversely affect an actual running system; I know they’re out there, I wonder why we don’t do them…) and more time.
I expect comments for this one, people. Paw-Zaw-Tiv comments, grok? Tell your friends.
Thank you in advance, I remain your humble servant
David “A+ (In Hardware And OS, If Not In Life)” Barker
PS, Happy Birthday Michelle! (Yes, that Michelle…)
Update: Thursday, May 6, 11:09am, I just rescheduled my exam for next Friday, May 14, because the sample tests we’re doing are very tough. Very tough. But I know you’re all still with me.
Update: Tuesday, May 11, 12:52pm, I rescheduled again, next Thursday this time. One of my classmates (one of the smart ones) came back from writing the exam with horror stories about taking it right down to the two and a half hour time limit with no time left to review his answers or missed questions. I really need more time to study, way more time. I won’t reschedule again though. I have to do it eventually so…
Update: Wednesday, May 19, 2:58pm, Okay, I wimped out again. I said I wouldn’t and I’m not supposed to, but I rescheduled my Windows 2000 exam again to next Thursday at 1:00pm (13 o’clock). The sample tests are the main reason. I keep getting 30% to 50% on them, and half the time I don’t know why I’m wrong! More later. Jeezes.

Okay, in case it’s not clear. I equate comments and email with love, approbation and validation. Hint. Hint.
